Brand Awareness and Advertising…

So if you managed to stay awake during Super Bowl LIII and you didn’t snooze through the commercials, then perhaps you noticed web companies missing from the big game ads. Go Daddy and Square Space did not run an Ad during the big game this year as they have done so in previous years. Wix was planning on sitting this Super Bowl out but closed a last second deal with CBS for the companies fifth consecutive Big Game commercial with supermodel Karlie Kloss.

Here is the AD incase you missed it.

Wix is betting big on the Super Bowl LII With a worldwide audience estimated at over 100 million viewers, CBS is charging a record $5.25 million on average for a 30-second spot during the game between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots, the Sporting News reported.

It seems as if companies are now looking towards digital influencers instead of just running traditional TV AD’s to order to get brand awareness and advertising. Last year Wix hired YouTube stars Rhett and Link, with 12.8 million subscribers to launch a campaign for them. So it was surprising to see Wix.com run the Big Game AD.

An influencer is a user on social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. Social media influencers have access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach. Since the rise of social media, influencers have become a major trend. These are ‘ordinary’ people who have earned a substantial following due to their expertise and transparency. They are being used more and more by companies to grab the attention of millennials as this group is less receptive to traditional marketing techniques. Brands purposely seek out influencers who create content that subtly pushes a product or service. The partnership between the brand and influencer is mutually beneficial. The company successfully reaches their target audience while the influencer is paid and continues to grow their following.

So if you are looking for new ways to bring brand awareness to your company and you don’t have 5.25 million to shell out for a Super Bowl AD, consider hiring a local influencer who can blog or vlog about your company or think of creative ways to create that awareness.
